Lady Bucs win regional semifinal, Lady Jags fall

The Hoover Lady Bucs knocked off Sparkman 46-38 in a Class 7A Northwest Regional semifinal game at Hanceville on Thursday. 

Shannan Watkins and Jailyn Maddox scored a dozen points each for Hoover (25-6) and Jada Smith added 10. 

The Lady Bucs advance to meet Hazel Green on Tuesday at 9 a.m., also at Hanceville. Hazel Green defeated Thompson on a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Spain Park Lady Jaguars weren't so successful. 

Gadsden City (24-4) proved too much, pulling out a 64-51 win in a Northeast Regional semifinal at Jacksonville. Spain Park's Victoria Baldwin scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Claire Holt added 10 points for the Lady Jags (25-9).
