Sam's Club reopening to feature football stars

The Hoover Sam’s Club will hold its grand re-opening on Friday, May 3, with appearances by former Alabama Crimson Tide and NFL defensive stars Chris Goode and Antonio Langham. The two will sign autographs as community members are asked to make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Mayor Gary Ivey will speak at the grand re-opening ceremony, which will highlight the recently remodeled club. The club features four new self-checkout stations, as well as 10 convertible checkout stations, which can be operated by associates or adapted to self-checkout stations as needed.

The club will also host a Morning Before Business Hours event prior to the ceremony, where representatives from area nonprofits can network with members of the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce and others from the local business community.

Antonio Langham was an all-American cornerback at Alabama before being drafted in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. His 19 interceptions still holds the career record for a Crimson Tide player. He played seven years in the NFL with Cleveland, Baltimore, San Francisco and New England.

Langham’s cousin, Chris Goode, also starred at Alabama as a defensive back. He was drafted in 1987 by the Indianapolis Colts, and spent seven years there before retiring. From 2000 to 2004, he was defensive coordinator for the Alabama Steeldogs of the Arena Football League 2.
