Every year on Veterans Day, the California Pizza Kitchen at the Galleria offers free meals to those who have served. This year, however, the owners want to do something extra.

"We thought it would be nice to try and bridge the gap between our service men and women and our community. There are a lot of people who would love to tell our service men and women 'thank you' for their service but don't ever get the chance," Community Brand Ambassador Callie Adams said.

This November, in addition to new items on the special menu for veterans, local recruiting officers will be at California Pizza Kitchen on Veterans Day to talk to customers and share information about military service. The restaurant will also set up an MIA/POW table with an officer to talk about its meaning for soldiers who are missing in action or prisoners of war.

One table at the restaurant, however, will not have diners seated at it from Nov. 10-12. Adams said this will be the Memorial Table, where family members can leave notes and pictures honoring service members who have passed away.
