Hoover Hometown Pharmacy to open this month

Working part time at a local pharmacy as a high school student, Whitney Culpepper discovered what a welcoming environment a pharmacy can have.

“I knew then that working with patients and being involved in the community is right where I wanted to be,” she said.

Her goal for Hoover Hometown Pharmacy, projected to open later in July, is to offer a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.

“A family pharmacy is a lot different from chains,” Culpepper said. “You get to know your pharmacist a little bit better. I hope to provide faster service, just get to know people and make them feel more at home when they come. They can call me whenever.”

Culpepper grew up in northeast Alabama, but, as a graduate of the Samford University pharmacy school, has been in Birmingham for several years. She and her husband recently moved into Hoover and look forward to becoming involved in the community.

“We’re completely diving in and ready to get to know people,” she said with a laugh. “It’s been a long process, but it’s been a dream for a long time, so I’m pretty excited.”

Hoover Hometown Pharmacy will be located at 2801 John Hawkins Parkway, suite 101A. No definite date for opening has been set.
