Alabama Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey to speak to Hoover chamber

Alabama Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey is scheduled to speak at the May 19 Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Her career has included serving as a high school teacher, bank officer, reading clerk of the Alabama House of Representatives and assistant director of the Alabama Development Office. In 2002, Kay was elected state treasurer, and in 2010, she was elected lieutenant governor.

The lieutenant governor’s primary constitutional duty is to preside over legislative proceedings of the upper house as president of the Senate.

The luncheon will also include recognition of the winners of the 2016-2017 Lila Parks scholarship and the newly established chamber scholarships from the Forks & Corks Gala sponsors. Students applying can be from any of the area schools, including all public and private schools, but must either be a Hoover resident or have at least one parent employed by the city of Hoover or a Hoover chamber member.

The luncheon is hosted at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m., with the luncheon starting at noon. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
