Hoover, Spain Park Basketball

Hoover took care of business and won the Class 7A, Area 5 Tournament with a 48-41 victory over Thompson on Friday night at Hoover High School.
The game was tied at the half, but Hoover pulled away in the third quarter, taking a 12-point lead after holding Thompson to just one point in the period.
The Lady Bucs were led by their two college signees, Jailyn Maddox and Kendra Langham. Maddox scored a team-high 22 points, followed by Langham's 13 points.
Langham and Kelci Marable were named to the All-Tournament team. Maddox was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The Lady Bucs now move on to the Regionals, as the rest of the season is now single-elimination. Hoover will play Bob Jones on Friday, Feb. 19 at noon, at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.
