Hoover police arrested a man they believe is responsible for multiple convenience store burglaries Sunday morning.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at the Shell Station at 2497 John Hawkins Parkway at 5:19 a.m. Sunday and found the front glass door was smashed by a rock. The cash drawer and multiple cartons of cigarettes were also missing.
Officers searching the area found the suspect, 21-year-old Joshua Magaul Sanders, hiding outside of a nearby business. A plastic bag with cigarettes and the missing cash drawer were found nearby.
An arrest warrant for another burglary at the Shell Station was obtained on Nov. 9. Sanders is suspected in four other convenience store burglaries in Hoover in the last month. Other agencies also have warrants for Sanders’ arrest.
Sanders was charged with the Nov. 9 burglary. The charge of second-degree burglary has a $30,000 bond.
Police are seeking additional charges against Sanders. He was being held in the Hoover Jail Sunday night, pending transfer to the Jefferson County Jail.
