The annual Shades Crest Arts and Crafts Fair will return Saturday, Oct. 3, bringing artists, crafters, food and activities to Shades Crest Baptist Church in Hoover.
The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church's Fellowship Hall at 452 Park Ave. The event takes place on the same day as the nearby Bluff Park Art Show, which draws visitors to the area and uses parking lots at Shades Crest for attendees who walk or take shuttle buses to the show.
Organizers are currently accepting applications from artists and crafters interested in participating in the Shades Crest event. Applications are due Sept. 14, and exhibitors are asked to make a non-refundable $30 table donation.
Each exhibitor will receive an 8-foot table and two chairs. Space is limited to one table per exhibitor. Limited access to electricity also is available upon request.
Exhibitors may set up from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, or 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. A complimentary light breakfast and coffee will be provided to exhibitors, with additional food available for purchase during the event.
Proceeds from table rentals and food sales will benefit Lift Up the Vulnerable, one of Shades Crest Baptist Church's ministry partners. The organization works to prevent trafficking and oppression of vulnerable children and women, particularly in Sudan and South Sudan, while supporting efforts to help them become leaders in their communities.
