New Year's holiday closing schedule for public buildings, services in Hoover

Public buildings in and around Hoover will be closing for the New Year’s holiday, but some facilities have different closing schedules than others.

Here’s a rundown on when various buildings will be closed:

  • Hoover Municipal Center, Hoover Public Safety Center and other city offices — Closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (Thursday and Friday)
  • Hoover Recreation Center — Open 8 a.m.-noon on New Year’s Eve (Thursday); closed New Year’s Day (Friday)
  • Hoover Public Library — Closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (Thursday and Friday)
  • Hoover garbage service —Friday (New Year’s Day) pickup will be on Saturday
  • Jefferson County Courthouse and Hoover Satellite Office — Closed New Year’s Day (Friday)
  • Shelby County Courthouse and other Shelby County offices — Closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (Thursday and Friday), except Shelby County property tax commissioner’s office, which will close only for New Year’s Day (Friday)
  • Alabama Department of Revenue Jefferson-Shelby Taxpayer Service Center on Valleydale Road — Closed New Year’s Day (Friday)
