The Hoover City Council tonight approved agreements with the Alabama Department of Transportation regarding 1.4 miles worth of sidewalks in the Bluff Park community.
The project will includes stretches of new sidewalks on Valley Street, Tyler Road, Cloudland Drive, Savoy Street and Clearview Drive.
The city has received approval to start right of way acquisition, which should take about 18 months, said Tim Westhoven, assistant executive director for the city. Once rights of way are acquired, construction likely will take nine to 12 months, so it probably will be two to 2 ½ years before the sidewalks are completed, Westhoven said.
In other business tonight, the council:
- Approved an ordinance to allow and regulate transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft.
- Reappointed Otis Bibb to the Hoover Personnel Review Board
- Gave approval for the sale of beer and wine at Paradise Biryani Pointe at 1841 Montgomery Highway, Suite 105.
