Hoover Gets Piggy With It
On Oct. 16 the city of Hoover gathered at the Hoover RV Park for some food and fun. This was the 19th year for the city to hold its Pig Iron BBQ Challenge, and all of the proceeds went to the charity organization Children's Harbor. Sponsors of the event formed teams of barbecuers to compete in a taste contest. Another category of the challenge was "team theme" where sponsors were judged on their elaborate tent setup. An award ceremony was held that afternoon and gates were opened to the public at 5 p.m. Organizers of the Pig Iron BBQ Challenge tell us they are excited to begin planning the 20th year of the event next fall.
