The Hoover City Council on Monday, Nov. 28, will start taking applications for a seat on the Hoover Parks and Recreation Board.
Randy Lott, who has served on the park board for 11 years, has resigned from the board with five years left on his current six-year term.
Lott said he is 67, kind of tired and trying to cut back on some of his activities. With many city leaders such as former Mayor Gary Ivey and former Councilmen Brian Skelton, Trey Lott and Jack Natter now out of office, he thought it would be a good time for him to resign from the board, he said.
“I just thought somebody else ought to have an opportunity,” Lott said.
The Hoover Parks and Recreation Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, usually at the Hoover Recreation Center. Anyone interested in applying can send a letter of interest and a resume to the Hoover city clerk’s office at Hoover City Hall, 100 Municipal Lane, Hoover, AL 35216 by 5 p.m. on Dec. 9.
The City Council expects to appoint someone to fill the vacancy at its Jan. 3 meeting, City Clerk Margie Handley said.
