The Hoover City Schools Foundation (HCSF) is seeking Hoover High School and Spain Park High School students to serve as ambassadors of the organization. Student board members will be expected to represent the foundation at various functions and events, attend monthly board meetings, complete community service acts, and be responsible for reaching out to donors and thanking them for their contributions.
"We are really trying to grow as a foundation right now and get the word out about who we are," said HCSF Executive Administrator Kara Walker. "We thought the best way to do that would be through our students."
Students from any high school grade level at Hoover High School or Spain Park High School may apply. The foundation will be accepting four freshman (junior board members) and up to 16 sophomores, juniors and/or seniors to serve the Student Board for the 2014-15 school year.
To apply, students must turn in a completed application, two completed recommendation forms (preferably from teachers or school administrators), and their most recent report card showing a C average or higher. The deadline for completed applications and recommendation forms is Oct 3. Students will be contacted once their application is received, and an interview will be scheduled for the week of Oct 6.
