Hoover police have confirmed that the two gunshot victims found in a Deer Valley home Wednesday died as the result of a murder/suicide.
Capt. Gregg Rector said that examinations by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office and evidence from the scene helped detectives determine the male shot the female victim and then shot himself.
The victims were identified as Jimmy Edward Seritt, 56, and Robin Elizabeth Brown, 51. Their bodies were discovered by one of Seritt's family members, who was concerned when he did not come to work Wednesday morning.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the residence at 5532 Colony Lane in The Village at Deer Valley was Seritt's home and Brown had also been living there for a short time. Brown had recently moved from Florida, Yates said.
"This couple was in a dating relationship and were both currently living at the Colony Lane residence," Rector said.
