Q: How long have you been in dentistry?
A: I’m coming up on 13 years of dentistry and cannot believe it! When you love your job, time really does fly by!
Q: When did you move your practice to Hoover and why?
A: My first six years of dentistry, I was blessed to focus my energies on perfecting the art of dentistry. After six years in a high-volume office, I was ready to own a practice.
I grew up in Oak Grove but always loved Hoover. Of course, I grew up shopping at the Galleria, going to Galleria Golf and Games and even worked in the mall in undergrad to pay those college bills. I married a Bluff Park native and fell in love with the community. We even got engaged on Lover’s Leap right across the street from my office! I knew Bluff Park was where I wanted to plant my business roots.
Q: What age groups do you serve?
A: My practice serves all age groups — from toddlers to senior citizens.
Q: What services do you provide?
A: We offer all general dentistry services: bi-annual cleanings and exams, cavity control, periodontal cleanings, crowns, cosmetic dentistry, root canals, extractions, implant restoration, removable prosthetics like dentures or partials, six-month smiles and orthodontic clear aligners, teeth whitening, nitrous oxide for anxiety relief and conscious sedation for patients with higher anxiety.
Q: COVID-19 has a lot of people staying home. Why is it important not to skip dental checkups or let problems go untreated?
A: COVID has definitely caused everyone to face new challenges this year. However, it’s imperative to continue your normal dental maintenance and take care of any issues. Small cavities could turn into much larger procedures in a small amount of time.
Also, many people do not realize the effect our dental health can have on the entire body. Poor oral health has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy complications and even infections in the brain.
Q: What COVID-19 safety measures are you taking?
A: Our infection control was already at the highest level. However, now there are many extra measures. We follow all guidance by the ADA, including requiring patients to fill out questionnaires that screen them for possible exposures to the virus, before entering the office.
Our waiting room is closed to enforce social distancing. We take temperatures of every patient either at their car or upon entry. All patients are asked to wear masks and to hand sanitize. Our bathroom is sanitized regularly.
Q: How do spend your off time?
A: We have five children and a fun house! I try to soak up every minute I can with my family and kiddos when not working. Of course, a lot of time this is taken up by laundry, homework, cleaning, etc. We spend a lot of time at soccer, baseball, flag football, but also lounging and playing around the house.
We love Sundays. It’s always church as family, usually lunch at Baha Burger and a lazy afternoon, hopefully including an awesome nap! We have a dog and 17 chickens. I also have another job in the cosmetic industry.
