On November 7 & 8, 2015, grab friends and family and get outside to the Moss Rock Festival at The Preserve in Hoover. Explore Nature, Eco Ideas, Art + Design & Technology at Alabama’s premier eco-creative festival now in its 10th year. Innovation, imagination, and fun await 15,000 visitors under a blanket of fall colors at this idyllic neighborhood setting adjacent to Hoover’s own 350 acre Moss Rock Preserve. MRF features something for everyone.
At the forefront of the festival is unique artwork from 100 exhibiting artists inspired by nature. Eco District and +Design booths, which are intermingled amongst the artists' creations, are full of innovation, imagination, sustainability, and green living ideas. Eco design and function are on display at the festival’s Eco:Drive. See and learn about the latest fuel efficient cars that will save you money at the pump, plus sign up for a test drive to experience them on the road.
The SmartLIVING market offers access to wellness initiatives, organic products, gluten free options, food education, free samples, and more. As you make your way around the greenway, be on the lookout for the festival's new Smart Stage spotlighting fun, informative micro bursts of programming covering topics like cooking, juicing, essential oils, home energy efficiency, remote travel expeditions, health & nutrition, exercise and more. Just past the market patrons will hit a new Tech feature showcasing UAB's Engineering Department’s Blazers BEST Robotics teams showing off their creations in a timed field obstacle course.
When you're done browsing the diverse features on the thoroughfare and are ready for something more sensory, head to the Town Hall for a crowd favorite. The Sweetery will gather visitors for a diverse and sweet display of baked goodies to sample and purchase. If tastings are your thing, Beer Garden will connect visitors to the liquid crafts of burgeoning Alabama breweries & beyond in addition to select wines alongside tasty bites and pairings. Café by the Woods will corral popular local food trucks and other festival favorites serving up fresh, local food and treats to satisfy your craving.
After grabbing a bite, the kids will want to explore the WonderKid Studios where engaging, educational and creative projects influenced by nature will keep all ages having fun making art and appreciating our planet at the same time. All can lounge on the Village Green’s large open space where live music is staged throughout the weekend from local talent. Or if you prefer to get moving on miles of trails, the 350 acre Moss Rock Preserve will entice visitors to hike, explore, and appreciate nature.
