Hoover police warn that residents should caution their kids after a suspicious man, possibly in possession of a handgun, approached two boys in the Scout Creek Subdivision.
On June 17 around 6:30 p.m., two 12-year-old boys noticed a car parked in a nearby parking lot as they were walking home on Scout Ridge Drive. The car pulled up near the boys when they reached their driveway, and the driver motioned for the boys to come over. He never rolled down his windows or spoke.
One boy said he saw a silver semi-automatic handgun in the driver’s other hand. They both ran into the house, and the driver drove away.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set white man in his 40’s with red hair, wearing wire-framed glasses. His car was “an older but clean” silver sedan with a silver grill.
Residents should call 911 if they see any suspicious activity. Anyone with information about this suspect or car can contact Sgt. Keith Czeskleba at 739-6795.
