The three candidates for Hoover mayor are, from left, Frank Brocato, Gary Ivey and Steve McClinton.
After months of campaigning, municipal election day has finally arrived in Hoover and most other cities across the state (on Tuesday, Aug 23).
Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey has two challengers — retired Hoover fire Marshal Frank Brocato and former Hoover City Schools Foundation President Steve McClinton. And there are 15 people seeking the seven seats on the Hoover City Council. Every seat is contested, and every registered voter in Hoover can vote on each of the seven City Council places because there are no geographic districts.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. There are 13 polling places in Hoover. Photo ID is required to vote. Anyone with questions can contact the Hoover city clerk’s office at 444-7500.
