A former employee of the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Lorna Road who was accused of stealing $40,000 from the store office in November was captured in an Indiana casino on Tuesday, Hoover police said this afternoon.
The woman, 24-year-old Adrienne Renae Thomas of Bessemer, was involved in an altercation inside the Hoosier Park Casino in Anderson, Ind., on Tuesday and was detained by officers with the Indiana Gaming Commission after they determined there was a felony warrant out for her arrest, Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said in a news release.
Thomas was taken to the Madison County Jail in Indiana, where she will remain until she is extradited back to Alabama, Rector said.
Hoover police said video surveillance footage clearly shows Thomas stealing the $40,000 from the Lorna Road Walmart office during her shift on Nov. 21. She left work that night and never returned, police said.
Detectives obtained a warrant for her arrest on a felony theft charge with a $15,000 bond. They had been searching for her but had received information that she fled to Detroit, Rector said.
