The Hoover Sun received 10 awards at the 2015 Alabama Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. The annual contest celebrates the best in writing, photography, design and advertisements among newspapers across the state.
The awards were presented at the annual summer convention on June 20, at the Hilton Sandestin hotel in Florida. There were nearly 3,000 entries from 70 newspapers across Alabama. The Hoover Sun competed in Division E of the contest, the division for member newspapers with free circulation.
Among the awards were:
1st Place – Best Feature Story Coverage
1st Place – Advertising Sweepstakes
2nd Place – Best Feature Photo
3rd Place – Best Sports Photo
3rd Place – Best Regularly Scheduled Special Section
Starnes Publishing, the publishing company for the Hoover Sun, took home 42 awards in total among its five newspapers.
