Hoover school board honors JSU Teacher Hall Of Fame Nominees including these teachers.
The Hoover Board of Education on April 14 will host a special meeting at Spain Park High School in which the panel will for the first time get to meet the five finalists for its superintendent vacancy, Board President Donna Frazier said during tonight’s board meeting.
Frazier said the search by the Alabama Association of School Boards on behalf of the board is going well as it seeks a replacement for previous superintendent Andy Craig. “We continue to receive inquiries from interested candidates,” she said.
It seemed like “teacher night” at the meeting, occurring on the March 9 kickoff of what Gov. Robert Bentley has deemed “Alabama National Board Certification Week.” Dozens of teachers in the Hoover City School System received certificates recognizing them for achieving the prestigious National Board Certification, a designation recognizing teachers who achieve high standards.
In a video before they were honored, a national official said Hoover has the highest percentage of certified teachers in Alabama and exceeds the national average. The Hoover school board also recognized several teachers who have been named nominees for the Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame.
