A man has been charged in connection to a robbery which occurred three years ago in Hoover.
On July 3, 2013, Hoover police responded to the report of a strong arm robbery at the Regions Bank on Corporate Ridge Drive. The victim, a manager for Dollar General, was reportedly making a deposit when a man wearing a mask and rubber gloves approached him.
The masked man demanded the victim’s bank bag, and during a struggle with the masked man, the victim was able to tear off one of the suspect’s gloves and partially remove his mask, according to police. The suspect got away with the bank bag, but left the glove behind.
Crime scene investigators submitted the glove to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for analysis, and a DNA profile was submitted to CODIS, or the Combined DNA Index System. After a positive match was collected, detectives were notified and the suspect was identified as Brezenskiki Rashad Wilson, a 36-year-old from New Market.
A warrant was obtained through the Shelby County DA’s Office, and Wilson was charged with third degree robbery. His bond was set at $15,000. Wilson is in custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections on an unrelated charge, according to police.
